Burji, a special woreda in Southern Nations, Nationalities and People’s region, is under tension as the woreda’s labor forces have been holding a strike for two weeks. Mereja TV contacted Burji woreda residents and administrative office for details on the current situation of Burji. The strike began after unknown individuals attacked a truck in Burji and four people died as a result. Even though police haven’t confirmed the identities of the attackers yet, residents believe that they were members of the Oromo Liberation Front (OLF) militia. In an interview with Mereja TV, the residents reported that they live in fear of probable attacks from OLF militia, and threats from OLF militia are getting worse by the day.
