Ambassador Suileman Dedefo, former Ambassador to Djibouti, released a shocking statement on social media a few months back. In his statements, the ambassador accused Ethiopian Trade Corporation of importing contaminated wheat from Djibouti port which entered the country’s market. The accusation became a hot topic on social media as it coincided with the then exposed corruptions of METEC. After months of debates circling the issue, Ethiopian Trade Corporation (ETC) broke the silence.
Ato Mengistu, CEO of Ethiopian Trade Corporation, told The Reporter that the allegations were baseless and far from the truth. Ato Tsegaye Berhe, Inspection Director at Ethiopian Conformity Assessment Enterprise, also backs up Ato Mengistu’s statement and said that the accusation can rise from anyone who doesn’t understand standard protocols.
The debate seems to go back and forth, and no one has confirmed the real truth so far. Who is really telling the truth?
