Ermias Amelga was under arrest on January 11, 2019, on charges connected with the ongoing trial of former METEC Director Kinfe Dagnew. The prosecution filed the charges against Ermias on allegations of knocking down the price of Imperial Hotel in Addis Ababa purchased by METEC. The defense attorney has filed rebuttal against the charges and addressed that the case should have been tried in Civil Court. The defense also requested for the charges to be dismissed. The court ruled for the prosecution to revise the defense’s rebuttal and bring in a counter-argument for the next session scheduled on February 7, 2019.
