Ato Ahmed Shide, Minister of Federal Government Communications Affairs Office, was elected as Chairman of Ethiopian-Somali People’s Democratic Party (ESPDP) replacing the infamous Abdi Mohamoud Omar (Abdi Iley) in August 2018. In an interview with ESAT Ato Jamal Derye, an advisor to Somali’s Regional President Mustafa Muhumed Omer on legal and human right affairs reported that Ato Ahmed Shide is interfering with state affairs. Ato Ahmed Shide is reportedly a close associate with Abdi Iley and believed to be working against the current reforms in the region. In today’s ESPDP meeting, the party has removed six higher officials and one cabinet member from the party after a through deliberation.
