Bereket Simon and Tadesse Kassa were arrested on corruption charges yesterday. The former EPRDF officials and ex-members of TIRET Corporation are detained in Bahir Dar city awaiting trial for misappropriated funds. Bereket Simon has been the talk of the town following his comment during a conference in Mekelle University when he deemed the current administration weak.
BBC interviewed former Head of Federal Government Communications Affair Office Ato Getachew Reda for his thought on the arrests. In Ato Getachew’s opinion, the arrest was unbelievable since he thought Bereket would be the last person arrested for corruption charges.
