Artists have an indispensable role in imprinting Ethiopia in the minds of every Ethiopian, says Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD).
While awarding a national recognition to the artists Abiy said artists have served the pillar on which Ethiopia was founded and have engraved the image of Ethiopia in the minds of every Ethiopian.
During the ceremony held at the art gallery inside Entoto Park yesterday Abiy told the artists “Ethiopia is grateful for your service”
He said they have played big role to imprint Ethiopia in the minds of the citizens through painting, music, literature, theatre and film.
A generation would cherish love to Ethiopia when the country is recorded in their minds, Abiy said adding that on the contrary, if the country does not exist in the minds of people a destructive generation would flourish.

 

Because of the image you created aboutEthiopia many citizens havehelped sustain the nation withoutraising any question and claimingremuneration, he said adding thatthough some people feel that thecountry is in trouble, Ethiopia andEthiopianism is fl ourishing.Among the artists honored includeMulatu Astatke, AlemtsehayWodajo, Hamelmal Abate, TesfayeAbebe, Getnet Eniyew, GirmaBulti, and Mahmoud Ahmed.
