Background: Fano media said on Nov. 1, 2026 that its fighters had entered Wuchale, north of Dessie, with heavy fighting in the Ambassel mountains, Mereja reported. Residents later told The Abay Times that federal troops were back in control of Wuchale on Nov. 3 after a day of heavy fighting that killed at least four civilians, and described drones over the Ambassel mountains. The regiment claim is attributed to Fano leadership and is not independently confirmed.
