Feissa Teka, 22, was born and raised in Oromia State, West Shewa Zone of Gendeberet town.
He recounts that a person named Tadesse Jonse who always advocates for the liberation of Oromia recruited him to be member of the Oromo Liberation Front (OLF). Dropping out his grade eight educations, he along with another 26 friends made his way to Chilmo area around Ginchi and received military training from 2010 onwards.
Completing their training, they were told to go back to their neighborhoods after taking orders to stand ready to travel to a place when communicated on the phone. Ahead of the day the Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF) northern command was attacked, an unidentified person gave him a call.
Other fellows who were also phoned had traveled to the place they were told and eventually made their way to Tigray. The travel to Tigray was not only by car but it also involved trekking on foot and joined the Tigray armed forces at a locality known as Chercher.
Feissa Teka’s name was changed with a nom de guerre called Biruk Teka. He was provided with arms and food rations and had been deployed to the attack after being promised to be paid an amount between 6,000 Birr and 7,000 Birr.
The TPLF commanders used to tell the combatants as the purpose of the attack had been to liberate the country. Despite an order to attack the northern command, he claims he did not participate in that mission.

Feissa and his fellow soldiers did not shy away from mentioning that they demanded their wages. But it was to no avail as they learned the financial sources had been dried by the government and they were not able to be paid. He regrets that he was tricked into joining the destructive mission.
