Definition of Additions

(cement)

Also called additives. Chemicals or minerals that are added to cement to enhance product qualities and performance. Examples: adding gypsum to control the setting time of the cement or an air-entraining agent to give freeze thaw resistance. The additions are introduced in the finish milling circuit when the clinker is ground. See admixtures, which are added to the concrete mix. -Source: Lehigh HeidelbergCement Group
