BRINK OF WW3: North Korea poised for nuclear war as US warns Kim Jong-un to stand down

NORTH Korea is poised to launch a missile strike against the US territory of Guam, triggering a global conflict as the US warns Kim Jong-un to stop threats that could lead "to the end of its regime and the destruction of its people.".

James Mattis, Donald Trump's Defence Secretary, has issued a stark warning amid growing fears Kim could trigger an all-out nuclear war.

He said: "The DPRK [Democratic People's Republic of Korea] must choose to stop isolating itself and stand down its pursuit of nuclear weapons.

"The DPRK should cease any consideration of actions that would lead to the end of its regime and the destruction of its people.

"The DPRK regime's actions will continue to be grossly overmatched by ours and would lose any arms race or conflict it initiates."

North Korean despot Kim Jong-un has gathered trusted advisers in Pyongyang to consider the implications of an inter-continental ballistic missile (ICBM) attack against the US.

Any attack on the island territory of Guam would almost certainly result in a retaliatory nuclear strike by Donald Trump on North Korea.

The conflict has the potential to spark World War 3 with military heavyweights Russia and China forced to pick sides.

Earlier today Russia Today was reporting: “Pyongyang said that it has been working on a plan to launch a medium-range ballistic missile at a US airbase in Guam.

"This comes after US bombers flew over the Korean Peninsula with Korean and Japanese warplanes.”

South Korean leader Moon Jae-in has reportedly told military commanders to prepare for war as the region prepares for a possible conflict.

President Trump has issued tweets boasting about the US nuclear arsenal today.

He wrote: “My first order as President was to renovate and modernise our nuclear arsenal. It is now far stronger and more powerful than ever before.

“Hopefully we will never have to use this power, but there will never be a time that we are not the most powerful nation in the world!”

Military strategists were expecting Kim Jong-un’s response to the US and Japan flying deadly bombers near North Korean territory in a brazen show of military strength last night.
