Addis Ababa will host the 5th International Conference on Public Health in Africa, known as CPHIA 2026, from November 23 to 27, 2026. The meeting will be at the Addis Ababa Convention Centre. The last day to apply for a place in the program is September 30. CPHIA is the main public health meeting of Africa CDC. Africa CDC is the public health agency of the African Union.<\/p>\n

The official CPHIA 2026 website, run by Africa CDC, says applications for research abstracts, side events and exhibition space all close on September 30. Travel grants tied to strong abstracts close on the same day. Early registration closed on August 22. Regular registration is now open. Writers will learn on October 15 if their abstracts are accepted. Final talks are due on October 30.<\/p>\n

Africa CDC and the Ethiopian government will host the meeting together. The Africa CDC events page says leaders, officials, researchers, inventors, civil groups and young people will take part. Africa CDC says the aim is to make health systems stronger and harder to break, with less need for aid from outside Africa.<\/p>\n

Dr Jean Kaseya, head of Africa CDC, said the meeting is part of work by African states and Africa CDC to rely more on their own health systems. He said the meeting will let people rethink how health is paid for. He said African leaders, new ideas and partners should drive health safety in Africa. The CPHIA site says the hosts expect more than 30,000 people. The topics include making health goods in Africa, digital health, and climate and health safety.<\/p>\n

The call for abstracts opened on August 5. It stays open to September 30. The CPHIA abstracts page says each abstract may have up to 300 words. The count does not include the title and the names of the writers. Each abstract should have background, methods, results and a conclusion. It should list three to five key words.<\/p>\n

People who present must register for the meeting. Late entries will not be taken. Each lead writer may send up to three abstracts. Accepted abstracts will be published in the conference proceedings. Prizes include best spoken talk, best poster, a young researcher prize and a prize for new ideas in public health.<\/p>\n

Africa CDC has also set a Youth Pre-Conference 2026. It is the official youth part of CPHIA. It will run for two days. Africa CDC says it will bring young health workers, students, researchers, inventors, business founders, campaigners, media workers and community leaders together with Africa\u2019s public health leaders.<\/p>\n

The youth meeting has five topics. They are digital health, research and new ideas; building Africa\u2019s public health workforce; One Health and readiness for health crises; making health goods in Africa and control over health supply; and youth lead work on sexual and reproductive health and HIV.<\/p>\n

Addis Ababa is the home of the African Union. The CPHIA site gives flights through Bole International Airport. It lists hotels near the hall. Strong abstracts may be picked for travel grants, it says.<\/p>\n
