{"id":753679,"date":"2013-05-29T12:07:18","date_gmt":"2013-05-29T16:07:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.webpronews.com\/?p=232868"},"modified":"2013-05-29T12:07:18","modified_gmt":"2013-05-29T16:07:18","slug":"toots-hibbert-cancels-tour-over-bottle-injury","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.com\/index\/753679","title":{"rendered":"Toots Hibbert Cancels Tour Over Bottle Injury"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Almost two weeks ago, at the Dominion Riverrock outdoor music festival in Virginia, Reggae singer Frederick &#8220;Toots&#8221; Hibbert was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.webpronews.com\/bottle-hits-singer-at-riverrock-festival-2013-05\">hit in the head with a large glass vodka bottle<\/a> during a Toots and the Maytals performance.  He was rushed to the hospital, where he received seven stitches to close the wound on his head.  The person who allegedly threw the bottle, a 19-year-old named William Lewis, has been charged with aggravated assault.<\/p>\n<p>Though the band had initially been hopeful that Hibbert would be able to continue the band&#8217;s U.S. tour, it now appears that he is too injured to return to the stage.<\/p>\n<p>According to an Associated Press <a href=\"http:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/reggae-singer-toots-hibbert-cancels-us-tour-returns-205852155.html\">report<\/a>, Hibbert has returned to his home in Jamaica and has cancelled the rest of the Toots and the Maytals tour dates.  He is reportedly still undergoing treatment for his injury.<\/p>\n<p>Hibbert gained fame in Jamaica in the 60s and 70s as a part of the band The Maytals.
