Morgan analyst\u00a0Mark Moskowitz this week has made a compelling case that a lower-cost <a href=\"http:\/\/bgr.com\/tag\/iphone\">iPhone<\/a> will likely be a mid-range device that sells in the $350 range without subsidies and not in the $150 bargain-bin range with devices like the Nokia Lumia 521. <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.barrons.com\/techtraderdaily\/2013\/05\/02\/apple-cheaper-iphone-could-maintain-smartphone-duopoly-says-jp-morgan\">Per <em>Barron's<\/em><\/a>,\u00a0Moskowitz writes that the <a href=\"http:\/\/bgr.com\/2013\/04\/30\/ipad-mini-shipments\/\">success Apple has enjoyed with the iPad mini<\/a> so far has shown the company that it can significantly expand its reach if it's \"willing to sacrifice near-term gross margins\" in exchange for long-term dominance of the market.
