In <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stuff.tv\/news\/apps-and-games\/news-nugget\/netflixs-ted-sarandos-talks-arrested-development-4k-and-reviving-old\">an interview with <em>Stuff<\/em><\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/bgr.com\/tag\/netflix\">Netflix<\/a> content chief\u00a0Ted Sarandos said that \"<a href=\"http:\/\/bgr.com\/2013\/04\/30\/pirate-bay-domain-host-sint-maarten\/\">the best way to combat piracy isn\u2019t legislatively or criminally<\/a> but by giving good options\" and observed that \"when we launch in a territory the Bittorrent traffic drops as the Netflix traffic grows.\"\u00a0Sarandos went on to explain that the growth in overall television content means that people will naturally \"want access to it\" and said that content providers \"can\u2019t use the internet as a marketing vehicle and then not as a delivery vehicle.\" It goes without saying that Sarandos's vision for combatting online piracy sounds a lot more consumer-friendly than <a href=\"http:\/\/bgr.com\/2012\/11\/22\/pirate-bay-raid-winnie-the-pooh\/\">seizing 9-year-olds' Winnie the Pooh laptops<\/a>.<img src=\"http:\/\/feeds.feedburner.com\/~r\/TheBoyGeniusReport\/~4\/PnwYqQduIRQ\" height=\"1\" width=\"1\"\/>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Netflix&#8217;s chief content officer has a novel way to combat online piracy: give people easy and affordable ways to access content.
