Tumblr launched a fresh new look for its Android app<\/a> on Monday, updating the navigation with a launcher button that pops out all of a user\u2019s different options on mobile \u2014 making the app look a lot more like Path.<\/p>

Path has been noted for its design on mobile<\/a>, and both Facebook\u2019s Home<\/a> on Android and Tumblr\u2019s new Android design share navigation features with the social network. The new Tumblr navigation lets a user tap on the compose button to bring up a variety of options for blogging:<\/p>

\"tumblr<\/a>The company has\u00a0over 200 million visitors per month and 18 billion pageviews, and CEO David\u00a0Karp will be speaking with my colleague Mathew Ingram<\/a> at PaidContent Live\u00a0next week in New York about where the company is headed.\u00a0Karp spoke at our Roadmap conference in November<\/a>, where he talked about\u00a0the challenges of good design on the company\u2019s platforms, saying that it comes down to having a team that would personally want to use its own products.<\/p>

\u201cGood products are built by people who want to use it themselves,\u201d Karp said at the time<\/a>, pointing to Apple\u2019s Steve Jobs and\u00a0Instagram\u2019s Kevin Systrom<\/a>\u00a0as examples. Karp also said that for many users, the app\u2019s design serves as a form of self-expression, so it\u2019s crucial for the company to get it right.<\/p>
