The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center said today it has received two grants worth a total of $10.1 million to set up a high-performance computing cluster and center to safeguard research data. The money comes from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, aka “the stimulus,” via the National Institutes of Health. The plan is to create an energy efficient facility that will safely store “irreplaceable research data,” and to buy high-powered instruments, the center said in an e-mailed statement.<\/p>\n
