As with many other office<br \/>\napplications, Word is an expensive<br \/>\npiece of software and if you&#8217;re on a budget, it&#8217;s not always a viable<br \/>\noption. Other reasons people look for alternatives is that they simply<br \/>\ndo not<br \/>\nrequire the features that ship with large applications such as Word. <br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/www.v3.co.uk\/vnunet\/downloads\/2128820\/abiword-07\"><br \/>AbiWord<br \/>\n 2.8.3<\/a><br \/>\nis a free word processor that recognises and enables you to open,<br \/>\nedit and<br \/>\nsave Word documents. The application itself is obviously not<br \/>\nas<br \/>\nfeature rich as Word, but it still offers extensive functionality, more<br \/>\nthan enough for the average user but in a smaller package.
