{"id":716506,"date":"2010-04-14T14:02:43","date_gmt":"2010-04-14T18:02:43","guid":{"rendered":"tag:typepad.com,2003:post-6a00d8341c630a53ef01347fdf884d970c"},"modified":"2010-04-14T14:01:43","modified_gmt":"2010-04-14T18:01:43","slug":"teenage-boys-in-yucapia-sexting-case-issued-citations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.com\/index\/716506","title":{"rendered":"Teenage boys in Yucapia &#8216;sexting&#8217; case issued citations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Four teenage boys wanted in Yucaipa on suspicion of <a href=\"http:\/\/latimesblogs.latimes.com\/lanow\/2010\/04\/four-teenage-boys-sought-in-yucaipa-for-sexting-nude-photos-of-girls-.html#more\">posting nude and semi-nude photos<\/a> of at least eight girls on a social networking site have been identified and issued citations, a sheriff&#8217;s spokeswoman said Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>The girls&#8217; photos have been taken off the website, which was not identified, at the request of authorities, said Arden Wiltshire, public information officer for the San Bernardino Sheriff&#8217;s Department.<\/p>\n<p>The case will be forwarded to the district attorney&#8217;s office for prosecution, she said.<\/p>\n<p>The incident, which involved students at Yucaipa\u2019s 9th Grade Campus, came to light Monday when police were notified of a website showing illicit photos of the 14- and 15-year-old girls.<\/p>\n<p>The photos had been freely sent by the girls to their friends, Wiltshire said. But then someone posted them on a major website, which was not identified.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>The practice of sending nude or semi-nude photos via cellphone or computer is known as &quot;sexting.&quot; Wiltshire said statistics show one in five teenagers have done it \u2013 22% of teen girls and 18% of boys.<\/p>\n<p>Fifteen percent of teenage boys send racy photos of their ex-girlfriends far and wide once they break up, she said.<\/p>\n<p>The suspects in this case are four 15-year-old boys.
