Times reports Americans&#8217; love of eating and immense poverty have combined to help our people set a new <a href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/business\/la-fi-briefs6-2010apr06,0,5046158.story\">record for food stamp consumption<\/a> in a month.<\/p>\n<p>From the story:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>About 39.4 million Americans, the most ever, received food stamps in January, the government said.<\/p>\n<p>The number of recipients was up 22% from a year earlier, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
