{"id":711756,"date":"2010-04-08T09:17:29","date_gmt":"2010-04-08T13:17:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/androidcommunity.com\/?p=6646"},"modified":"2010-04-08T09:17:29","modified_gmt":"2010-04-08T13:17:29","slug":"android-market-sees-growth-spurt-in-march-2010","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.com\/index\/711756","title":{"rendered":"Android Market sees growth-spurt in March 2010"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A semi-common criticism of Android devices in many reviews is that the <a href=\"http:\/\/androidcommunity.com\/tag\/android-market\" >Android Market<\/a> isn&#8217;t as well established as, say, Apple&#8217;s App Store. \u00a0While that&#8217;s still the case, it looks like Android is certainly beginning to accelerate the catch-up process.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-6647\" title=\"new_android_apps_by_month\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/cdn.androidcommunity.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/new_android_apps_by_month-540x415.png?resize=540%2C415\" alt=\"\" width=\"540\" height=\"415\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-6646\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>AndroLib have been <a href=\"http:\/\/www.androlib.com\/appstats.aspx\" >tracking the number<\/a> of new applications added to the Android Market, and churning the figures to work out how many apps per month have been submitted. \u00a0Turns out, March 2010 saw a significant jump in developer activity: over nine thousand new titles, versus 5.5k in February.<\/p>\n<p>April 2010, meanwhile, has over two thousand new apps already, and we&#8217;re only a third of the way through. \u00a0There&#8217;s no theorising from AndroLib as to what happened to provoke the jump, but we wouldn&#8217;t be surprised if the launch of the <a href=\"http:\/\/androidcommunity.com\/tag\/htc-desire\" >HTC Desire<\/a> (and the <a href=\"http:\/\/androidcommunity.com\/tag\/htc-legend\" >HTC Legend<\/a>) at MWC 2010 the previous month had something to do with it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A semi-common criticism of Android devices in many reviews is that the Android Market isn&#8217;t as well established as, say, Apple&#8217;s App Store. \u00a0While that&#8217;s still the case, it looks like Android is certainly beginning to accelerate the catch-up process.
