{"id":691936,"date":"2010-03-15T20:57:44","date_gmt":"2010-03-16T00:57:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.popcrunch.com\/?p=96643"},"modified":"2010-03-15T20:57:44","modified_gmt":"2010-03-16T00:57:44","slug":"paula-abdul-%e2%80%9cstar-search%e2%80%9d-host","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.com\/index\/691936","title":{"rendered":"Paula Abdul \u201cStar Search\u201d Host"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;Straight Up&#8221; diva Paula Abdul has been tapped to headline a revival of the classic TV talent show <em>Star Search<\/em> as part of a $1 million development deal with ABC, <em><a href=\"http:\/\/ausiellofiles.ew.com\/2010\/03\/15\/paula-abdul-star-search\/\">Entertainment Weekly\u2019s<\/a><\/em>TV Guy Michael Ausiello dished Monday evening.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.popcrunch.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/09\/paula-abdul-ellen-degeneres-spoof-500x745.jpg?resize=500%2C745\" alt=\"\" title=\"Paula Abdul Ellen DeGeneres Spoof\" width=\"500\" height=\"745\" class=\"alignright size-large wp-image-71609\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-96643\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The former <em>American Idol<\/em> judge &#8212; who has been linked to numerous hosting and judging gigs since departing the FOX singing competition over a salary dispute last summer &#8212; is now reportedly in line to step into the shoes pioneered by late showbiz legend Ed McMahon. McMahon welcomed burgeoning stars like Britney Spears, Aaliyah, and Justin Timberlake to the <em>Star Search<\/em> stage during the original show&#8217;s run between 1983-1995. Although Paula\u2019s role on the show is still being worked out, Ausiello spies believe she would serve as both a host and a judge.<\/p>\n<p>In 2003, CBS brought the show back with Arsenio Hall (who happens to be Paula&#8217;s ex) as host and country legend Naomi Judd as a spitfire judge. The revival was quickly axed in 2004 &#8212; but not before discovering future R&#038;B singer Tiffany Evans.<\/p>\n<p>Do we want to see a reboot of <em>Star Search<\/em>?
