Rivera, a civilian, admitted that he\u00a0asked for and received compensation\u00a0for awarding four subcontractors lucrative\u00a0plumbing, construction and painting contracts at the Air Force base hospital.<\/p>\n<p>One of the subcontractors was an FBI source who contacted authorities in 2008 after Rivera solicited bribes.<\/p>\n<p>A\u00a0federal judge on Tuesday also ordered Rivera, of Los Angeles, to pay more than $38,000 in restitution.<\/p>\n<p>The Air Force base is located in El Segundo, near Los Angeles International Airport.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212; Kate Linthicum<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A man who worked at Los Angeles Air Force Base has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for taking more than $70,000 in kickbacks from subcontractors, authorities said Wednesday.
