{"id":666008,"date":"2010-02-12T20:17:22","date_gmt":"2010-02-13T01:17:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.personalliberty.com\/liberty\/can-eating-chocolate-lower-the-risk-of-stroke\/"},"modified":"2010-02-12T20:17:22","modified_gmt":"2010-02-13T01:17:22","slug":"can-eating-chocolate-lower-the-risk-of-stroke","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.com\/index\/666008","title":{"rendered":"Can Eating Chocolate Lower The Risk Of Stroke?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pictures.directnews.co.uk\/liveimages\/choc_1961_19614490_0_0_7012717_300.jpg?w=780\" alt=\"Can eating chocolate lower the risk of stroke?\" align=\"right\" class=\"post_image\">New research shows that eating chocolate may help lower the risk of having a stroke. <\/p>\n<p>Study author Sarah Sahib, with McMaster University in Ontario, Canada, and her colleagues analyzed three separate studies, two of which showed a link between the consumption of chocolate and a decreased risk of stroke. <\/p>\n<p>In the first study, researchers found that nearly 45,000 people who ate one serving of chocolate per week were 22 percent less likely to have a stroke compared to people who did not eat any sweets. Meanwhile, a second study found that more than 1,000 respondents who consumed 50 grams of chocolate each week were 46 percent less likely to die following a stroke than those who eat no chocolate. <\/p>\n<p>&quot;More research is needed to determine whether chocolate truly lowers stroke risk, or whether healthier people are simply more likely to eat chocolate than others,&quot; concluded Sahib. <\/p>\n<p>She added that chocolate is rich in antioxidants called flavonoids, which may have a beneficial effect against stroke. <\/p>\n<p>The third study that was analyzed found no link between chocolate and the risk of stroke or death.  <br \/><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"ADNFCR-1961-ID-19614490-ADNFCR\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/feeds.directnews.co.uk\/feedtrack\/justcopyright.gif?w=780\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>New research shows that eating chocolate may help lower the risk of having a stroke.
