{"id":656445,"date":"2010-02-05T15:09:00","date_gmt":"2010-02-05T20:09:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2026-10-04T10:19:38","modified_gmt":"2026-10-04T14:19:38","slug":"in-the-field-exploration-of-giza-cave-tomb","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.com\/index\/656445","title":{"rendered":"In the field: Exploration of Giza Cave-Tomb"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.i-newswire.com\/exploration-of-giza-cave-tomb-steps\/20558\">i-Newswire<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Work at the enigmatic tomb concealing the hidden entrance to Giza\u2019s lost cave-world has stepped up a gear as Dr Zahi Hawass, Secretary General of Egypt\u2019s Supreme Council of Antiquities, reveals that the mysterious location is being probed by a host of experts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have experts in all fields working with us,\u201d he revealed this week. \u201cArchaeologists, geologists, engineers, and architects, to name a few.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dr Hawass is, however, being tight lipped on exactly why there is so much interest in the tomb, designated \u201cNC2\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will be posting information about our excavation at Giza on my web site,\u201d he said, \u201cand will be publishing the results of our work in due course.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Work at the cave-tomb began quietly in August last year, and has continued ever since, with two new rock-cut shafts and stairways being uncovered to date.
