{"id":639448,"date":"2010-01-19T08:01:54","date_gmt":"2010-01-19T13:01:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.earthportal.org\/news\/?p=3066"},"modified":"2010-01-19T08:01:54","modified_gmt":"2010-01-19T13:01:54","slug":"ipcc-to-review-himalayan-glacier-claim","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.com\/index\/639448","title":{"rendered":"IPCC to review Himalayan glacier claim"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/s\/afp\/20100118\/sc_afp\/indiaenvironmentglacierswarmingun\" ><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/d.yimg.com\/a\/p\/afp\/20100118\/capt.photo_1263840008316-2-0.jpg?resize=265%2C157\" width=\"265\" align=\"right\" height=\"157\" \/><\/a>The chief of the U.N.&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eoearth.org\/article\/Intergovernmental_Panel_on_Climate_Change_%28IPCC%29\">Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)<\/a> said today that it would investigate claims that the group&#8217;s 2007 report made an erroneous claim that the Himalayan <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eoearth.org\/article\/Glacier\">glaciers<\/a> were receding faster than in any other part of the world and could &#8220;disappear altogether by 2035 if not sooner.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>This past weekend, Britain&#8217;s Sunday <em>Times<\/em> reported that the 2035 claim was taken from an interview with an Indian glaciologist in <em>New Scientist<\/em> a decade ago. Separately, last month the BBC quoted J.
