{"id":456348,"date":"2023-07-28T08:00:04","date_gmt":"2023-07-28T12:00:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mereja.com\/index\/?p=456348"},"modified":"2023-07-28T08:00:04","modified_gmt":"2023-07-28T12:00:04","slug":"deadly-clashes-civilian-deaths-reported-in-ethiopias-amhara-region-despite-communication-blackout","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.com\/index\/456348","title":{"rendered":"Deadly clashes, civilian deaths reported in Ethiopia\u2019s Amhara region despite communication blackout"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Deadly clashes and civilian deaths are being reported in Ethiopia\u2019s northern Amhara region despite a government imposed communication and information blackout.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Reports coming from abroad based media outlets indicate, deadly clashes between Fano fighters and government security forces as well as security forces crackdown on civilians in Amhara region are happening across most zones of Amhara region in various levels of intensity.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On Thursday in a rare official statement, the West-Denbiya district administration council of West-Gonder zone administration in Amhara region admitted human lives were lost in what it said were clashes between Ethiopian army soldiers and unnamed armed groups.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The statement said the clashes were caused by a misunderstanding between a travelling group of senior Ethiopia army officers and their entourage and unnamed armed groups.
