(NYSE: V) Leading global payments technology company, Visa has affirmed its commitment to expanding digital payments in Ethiopia by working closely with the financial ecosystem to bring the benefits of digital payments to consumers, merchants, financial institutions and the government.<\/p>\n<p id=\"m_5518574081126830393E269\">The company announced a series of partnerships in Ethiopia during an inaugural Visa Payments Forum held today, that brought together key stakeholders from the digital payments industry to discuss opportunities that exist to develop the payments ecosystem in the country.<\/p>\n<p id=\"m_5518574081126830393E271\">The partnerships announced are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li id=\"m_5518574081126830393E273\">Partnership agreement with Ethiopian Airlines to launch a co-branded card to\u00a0ShebaMiles\u00a0members across the Continent.<\/li>\n<li id=\"m_5518574081126830393E279\">An\u00a0agreement and implementation with Bank of Abyssinia and Dashen Bank\/Moneta (Amole) Technologies focused on supporting eCommerce growth\u00a0and\u00a0helping more online businesses accept digital payments.<\/li>\n<li id=\"m_5518574081126830393E284\">Partnership with Kifiya Financial Technology, providing local digital payments across mobile and online payments.<\/li>\n<li id=\"m_5518574081126830393E287\">Partnership with\u00a0BelCash\u00a0Technologies\u00a0that\u00a0will support\u00a0the development of\u00a0cross-border\u00a0payment solutions for the East-African\u00a0financial institutions and\u00a0helping grow eCommerce\u00a0to unlock\u00a0the country\u2019s digital potential.<\/li>\n<li id=\"m_5518574081126830393E303\">Licensing partnership with Cooperative bank &amp; Oromia International Bank.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p id=\"m_5518574081126830393E307\">In addition to partnerships, Visa has undertaken two initiatives to drive financial inclusion and job creation within Ethiopia with STEMPower and\u00a0the\u00a0Visa Everywhere Initiative in Ethiopia, an initiative aimed at supporting the development of innovative fintechs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt Visa, we are extremely pleased to have a local presence in one of the most exciting countries in Africa. Enhanced digital infrastructure enables support to local people and small businesses to manage their cash flows with nimbleness, accuracy, efficiency, and transparency.
