Witnesses said police assaulted detainees and that court hearings were delayed with little access for families.

Civil society groups such as SebHidri and opposition Arena Tigray also reported harassment. Officials sometimes painted rights campaigners as agents of Abiy Ahmed or Eritrea instead of debating land policy.

Kept as politics archive, the file shows Tigray was not only a federal–regional fight. Homegrown youth pressure on the TPLF over land and due process was already live in 2019.

Sources: Ethiopia Insight

Detained Tigrayan youth land blow on TPLF Ethiopia InsightYouthful Tigrayan activists are increasingly challenging the TPLF by encouraging citizens to demand their constitutional rights.

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false

8

post-276155","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-ethiopian-news
https://i0.wp.com/mereja.com/index/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/20221222_191454-1.jpg?fit=2000%2C934&ssl=1
["GET
