This mechanism came handy in mediating the tension between Amhara and Tigray regions and their respective ruling parties, Amhara Democratic (ADP) and Tigray People Liberation Front (TPLF). Religious leaders and community elders discussed with the heads of both regions, and the leaders gave a press release of peaceful reconciliation last Tuesday. In their speech, both leaders emphasized how Tigray and Amhara are related and bounded by the same culture and religious assets. Even if most people perceived the reconciliation in positively, some parties are taking a different stand.
