Unity without Equality is impossible !

Post by Democrat » 17 Apr 2019, 12:15

Equality of all citizens before the law and equal opportunity to all is the foundation of a healthy and harmonious. In Case of Ethiopia, there never has been equality of tribal groups. The dominant tribal group was controlling most of the financial resources benefting to the members of the tribal group holding power. Recently TPLF gave the Tigreans more priveleges even though these were sabotaged bt TPLF leaders and cadres. TPLF used Tigrayan people to stay in power. There were "Festival Tigray" where as Ethiopians never came together to celeberate a national day. During the Haile Selassie, The amhara elites abused the political power to benfit themselves and amharas. During Mengitu's terror rule, the oromos had some priveleges.

Had Haile tried to provide equal opportunity to all, instead of promoting divide and rule, by now we would witness a united Ethiopia co-ordinating it's economic activies to benefit Ethiopians and rest of humanity.

To respect equality of all citizens, there is no need to have a federal form of government. If there is equality in a unitary state, people will support the ste and identify themselves as part of that state and fight for it's continuity instead of fighting against it as the case now in Ethiopia.

Ethiopia should have a new constution garanting the equality of all citizens irrespective ethnic background, religion or sex. We need to make sure all regions of Ethiopia have equal distribution of resources. as it is now, Ethiopia invests 70% the national budget to develop it's capital city. The provinces are left with scanty supply of finance and skilled workers. This should be stopped and those groups or individuals should be punished if necessary by capital punishment. Otherwise the vicious cycle of war and underdevelopment will contnue.
