How did your north Tigray Know "Gelgel Meskel" yet the older generation do not know it, is it the brain thing, the inferior thing, the hate of your own skin thing???

It is called Gelgele Mesqele, not gelgel mesqel. It is the geez name for Saint Jone's Wort, a known anti-depressant/mood uplifting flowering-herb, but not banned like Hashish.

Gelgel Meskel means new year or brand new born like brand new Gelgel Teli or mahshiq. The word came from Mahshiq or brand new born goat. There is a reason we call Gelgel Meskel. Gelgele does does not mean anything in Tigrigna. But any region of Tigray can call it the way they understand it and relate to their surroundings, no biggie.

C'mom do not fabricate such things. Do you think I do not know what Gelgel (amharu's gilgel) means? GelGele Mesqele is totally different and it is a Geez phrase.... which means, Saint Jone's Wort …Note: it follows Geez Grammatical rules, that is why both terms of the phrase gotta end in e. Take my word for it! What the girls have on their head is Gelgele Mesqele… flower of Saint Jones wort..... Remember: Qidus Yahannes itself is directly related to Saint Jone.
