It Is Not Much a Difference Whoever is the U.S. President , when it comes to Ethiopia.

Post by Abere » 06 Nov 2024, 10:49

It Is Not Much a Difference Whoever is the U.S. President - when it comes to Ethiopia. Regardless of the Rhetoric many makes or the wild expectations they set, the U.S. always focus on strategic goal with a common denominator. Whether the UUU Joe Biden leaves and "bomb that damn dam" comes ( alas, the dam is now a nuclear bomb by itself, it can fire back), nothing will change for Ethiopia. The country will sail just like it did in many turbulent times. In stead of learning what democracy function or what a democratic election means, many African dictators prepares wish lists every time the U.S. elects its president. Example, take Eritrea. Eritrea has never elected any leader in its history. Can Isaias Afework really have the moral ground to congratulate any elect U.S. president? Unelected cannot congratulate the elected. Also, can Abiy Ahmed have the audacity to congratulate other democratically elected leader? No, Abiy himself is not elected by the people of Ethiopia - he is rebel OLF junta. Likewise, Egypt's Al Sisi is a military junta - he is not a democratically elected leader. What Africans should learn is how to create a democratic system stop leaders coming through military coup like Al Sisi, unelected rebel thug like Isaias or Abiy Ahmed.

DarkDonkey & KebenaDirt,

Revenue from Eritrean Refugees will decline as Donald Trump will stop all those potential illegal immigrants sailing the Red Sea on wooden rafts. How is Ascari land going to make it up its loss of remittance from the banning of refugees?

Ethiopia is always the biggest factor in the equation of African politics. Ascaris are historically known for wagging their tails and behinds to anyone new until they end up getting scre-wed. Ethiopia always stands tall and even try to size-up you the potty arse Ascari. Who says Trump will affect Ethiopia but not Harris/Biden? No, it is under Biden that the Amhara people are have become target of genocide by Abiy Ahmed; it is in Biden's time Abiy Ahmed caused untold destruction of Ethiopia. How worse would it get under Trump, as you would want the worst of all under the sky for Ethiopia? The funny thing is, you Ascari have been wasting your time only being evil and yet have not shown the world any progress. Sitting idle, make raft, cross dangerous sea. You cannot even learn from Somaliland. The difference between Eritrea province and Somaliland is sky and earth. You never elected a leader nor have built a single factory or developed a town. You are still following camels and Shabia rebels where your ancestors left off you. Low IQ stupid Ascari donkeys, you will never learn.

Abere,
Forget the squeaking shabea rats here. They will gang up with any one against Ethiopia.
I have been neutral thru out the election comotion. One thing good out of this is, ወያኔ is dead both internally and externally. The TPLF/Zenawi swamp in DC may dry up or evaporate in the next four years.
All other complex issues aside, we have a guy who was saying bomb GERD, shithole countries etc. He was saying Sisi was his favorite dictator which Ethiopians hate. We will see if he continues to do the same or behave a bit better.
Although the US foreign policy may stay unchanged, for shure we will see new faces. I hope their relation with the terrorist galla king does not improve because he professes himself a prosperity evangelical. I hope they consider GERD is an irreversible issue in favor of Ethiopia, not collude with Sisi.
For Eritrea, I don’t think anything will improve as far as the dictator Shabea posture and oppression does not change.

Odie,

I totally agree with you! The U.S. policy regarding Ethiopia will remain unchanged as far as their strategy is concerned, now matter who is in the president. Likewise, Ethiopians ( although have been without a leader for more than 3 decades) have an inveterate goal of being a sovereign country. The Ethiopians push want to push out the 3 evils (Shabia, Woyane, OLF) whereas the U.S. wants to keep at least one of these evils alive. The deciding factor is Ethiopians not the U.S. It is not because the U.S wanted Woyane to be decimated, because it is beyond their influence. Now, plan B, Orommuma is an alternative one, we see the silence when dozens of Amhara, Gurage, etc being murdered openly, yet it is okay for OLF to do this heinous job. Suppose, OLF is defeated like Woyane, plan C, Shabia could be another alternative. Thus, for Ethiopians whoever comes and goes should not matter, that should only matter for Americans. Ethiopians business is focusing on their priority. Removing these evils, free their country.

For me Shabia rats are just despicable useless ones. They showed nothing good or progress to the world.

Regarding Abay river Dam, it is too late for Egypt to do anything about it. It is not even Biden did not favoring Egypt, it is because impossible and too late. For that matter, Egypt even does not have that capability unless a super power is doing her job - and that will never ever happen.

Egypt is just another dirt poor 3rd world country. It is dependent on U.S. tips for her service of holding mediation between Israel and Palestine.

Abere,
True. We all need to limit our expectation as to which way US policy moves. There are some known fundamentals on Trump's positions. He will try to check Chinese economic global influence and military influence in the Pacific.

The second known is the American business class. This is all about business including his own global business empire. So, US economic activities will be the main area of change. If this is the case, we may see more American business investment in Ethiopia including the possible lifting of AGOA.

The third is Trump's close relation with rich Arab countries (again it is all about money). His close relations with Saudis, UAE and other is well known. How attractive Egypt is for the American business class, I don't. So, Egypt's influence in the area could grow and as a consequence Al-Sisi could put more pressure on The Nile Commission. Yes, Egypt can't do anything to GERD any longer, but it can sabotage the Nile commission forcing Ethiopia to sign some kind of bad agreement on the operation of GERD and future dam building in Ethiopia.

What will be very interesting is what US will do in Somalia and Somaliland (both economic & military). Turkey is aggressively expanding as a 2nd level power in Africa controlling oil and mineral resources. I don't think the American business class will sit idle and allow this to happen. So, US involvement in Somalia and Somaliland will change (will grow). How that is going to affect Ethiopia, we will see.

In short, the ruling class around Trump doesn't give a rat about most other issues in our region except economic and US security interests.

That is what I think.

Horus,

For the U.S. it is all about business. The business of politics is doing business, meaning doing what is best for America. It is always a continuation of where the predecessor left off - that is why the institution of check and balance is in place. Whereas 3rd world rats like Isaias, Abiy Ahmed or Al Sisi they consider themselves their power is unlimited, the [deleted] for the check and balance is in their own hand. The buzzer is in their hand, not in the public. Can you imagine, since the US created Eritrea and installed Isaias, conducted 10 presidential elections while Isaias did not even try one.

It is true, Ethiopia is the economic and demographic powerhouse of Africa. It the gateway to Africa and a such Ethiopia weighs heavy in the minds of any U.S president. It is practically improbable for any US president to alienate Ethiopia. The cost of doing that is too much to incur in their long term relation with a country very influential in Africa. Egypt is an actor more in the Arab world, because of its population and also being a host for Israel and Palestine. The U.S. is a very calculating country they cannot easily trade one against the other, as rebel thug Shabia and rats OLF think. Ethiopia is an attractive place for market, investment, continental influence. Surely, Ethiopia is a highly demanded country.

Abere & Odie,

Eris are ignored here.

Better wait and see for what Trump do next. At this point there is nothing Egypt can do with the dam. Rather it will try to destabilize Ethiopia by using proxies. The incompetence and weakness of the Ethiopian government is what worries me the most. Abiye doesn’t have a clue on what he is doing.

Israel is looking for a base in Somalia and so is the US. Navigating the diplomatic route in the area needs skill and the Ethiopian government doesn’t have that.
Until the domestic issues are settled Ethiopia will have so many challenges just to stay stable.
In my view Ethiopians should unite and remove this savage government as soon as possible. Drop ethnicity and fight for survival.

True Abere,
Let the shabea goons eat their burger, drink their soda at their work place, parking lot, and keep squeaking on this forum when high on CBD oil. Shabia and its goon will die their natural death. One man rule.
Our elephant in the house is the Oromo barbarists masquerading as Ethiopians sitting in 4kilo and who slaughter our people, destroy our culture and what we are. We can not continue to tolerate that. Enough is enough. A must and decisive action should be taken at whatever cost. There should be no word mincing or need for political correctness. We all have to do something in any way we could.

True!
Because of some of the unfavorable Democrats agenda and their compalecence at the peril of Ethiopians, specially the Amhara, it may be that many Ethiopians in USA might have voted in favor of GOP. We never know, with good lobbying the wind may blow towards us. The bipolar man was very quick to congratulate Trump to seek his favor but fascist Abiy is not a statesman good enough to win favor. Trump did not take a liking of the Oromuma leader in his previous white house episode and this friction may continue this time too.
