First of all the 50 states of USA are not countries as you implied. they are self governing provinces . secondly the taxation is not set on democratic rules but, bureaucratic rules which does not apply to every state equally. For example , California and New York are the very highly taxing states in which the graduating students and businesses are fleeing in droves bankrupting the states beyond imagination. Their budget deficit is beyond control where the two states are closing elementary and Junior high schools left and right. I say this for I live in New York state my self. Last but not least, the taxation rules are based solely on a capitalistic idea that punishes the middle class working group where the poor gets government help , social services, SSI and so forth where inflation does not affect them as much for they are not in the labor force and the rich as been said live on the working class mainly the blue collar toil. One better example that is working economy with better spread of wealth is the Scandinavian states.
