Abiy did say in the early part of his speech that every Ethiopian participated in the battle of Adwa. Of course, the 100,000 armed men & women that Menilik mobilized came from every corner of the country. Abiy later highlighted the organizing role played by folks that were living in central Ethiopia. Given the geographical location, they were obviously in a better position to actively organize the army, the church, weaponry, establish food depots, spread false reports downplaying the size & strength of our military, etc. somebody had to do this job. 100,000 troops didn’t just blindly march to Adwa like wild beasts.

Having said that, I didn’t see anything wrong with Abiy’s speech although he should start to delegate such professorial tasks to academics or managers.
