It was TPLF, with EPLF's help, who made OPDO's-the party Abiy belongs to. Right? OLF and EPLF's alliance was tactical, the EPLF always backed the TPLF more, due to shared heritage, language, and being neighbors. President Isayas allegedly, and likely, has at least partial Tigrayan heritage, and some family from there, so of course he would relate more to them than to the Oromo's whom his people don't know, don't border, or share much in common with. An oromo in oromia has more in common with an afar, or saho, than a tigrinya person in eritrea, due to religion, culture, language, etc.
So of course, the EPLF chose to side with TPLF and EPRDF/TPLF's puppet parties, against genuine nationalist parties such as OLF.

Besides, we all know that, alliances change based on interests, not on genuine principles. EXAMPLE: if tplf never betrayed the eplf, and tried to overthrow them, and take eritrean lands, then the eritrean forces today may very well be fighting for tplf, and not against them-no matter how many war crimes the tplf committed in oromia, somali kilil, amhara kilil and afar.
