Miss me yet?’ As bumbling Biden makes mess of America, Trump will look like the messiah come 2024

After less than a year in power, Americans are already perplexed by Joe Biden’s unending string of serious blunders, as evidenced by Trump’s latest surge in the polls. Will the US welcome back the maverick in 2024?

It’s almost unthinkable, but America’s favorite beating boy, the menacing ‘Orange Man’ Donald J. Trump, seems to have gained a new respectability after losing the White House to Joe Biden just last year.

In a new Harvard-Harris poll, Trump, who survived two attempts at impeachment while in office, has acquired a popularity rating https://www.moneycontrol.com/news/world ... 96991.html of 48 percent compared with Biden’s 46 percent. At the same time, 51 percent of respondents said Trump was a better president than Biden, while 49 percent held the opposite view. And since American politics has become more about winning the next election than anything else, rumors are already swirling that the former president will seek to be the Republican presidential candidate in 2024. And the numbers are on his side.

According to the same poll, https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/5 ... mary-field nearly six in 10 Republican voters surveyed say they would vote to put Trump back on the ticket in 2024. No other potential Republican candidate comes close to exciting the same level of voter enthusiasm as the former real estate magnate and TV personality. Mike Pence, for example, the former cold-as-ice vice, came in a distant second place with 13 percent support, while Ron DeSantis, the Florida governor who managed to keep his state open for business through much of the Covid lockdown season, garnered just nine percent support.

It is tempting to suggest, however, that Trump’s newfound popularity among the American people is due more to Biden’s mangling of domestic and foreign policy than any sort of genius on his part. After all, the former president remains largely muzzled by both the mainstream media and social media, while the majority of press he gets carries a whiff of anthrax. Thus, Trump need only sit back and abide by Napoleon’s famous maxim that advises

Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.

And lord knows there have been mistakes.

From the disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal, which saw the commander-in-chief leave behind numerous US citizens amid an advancing Taliban force, as well enough munitions on the tarmac to build a new army from scratch; to the crisis at the US-Mexico border, where thousands of illegal Haitian migrants are huddled under a bridge as they wait to be shuffled around the country; it has been one long, unmitigated string of ugly optics for the Biden administration. And that’s not even mentioning the Democratic leader’s embracing https://nypost.com/2021/01/25/biden-has ... -fight-it/ of racist critical race theory in the classroom.

Perhaps this avalanche of madness would be more forgivable if the US leader appeared to be in full command of his sensibilities, but unfortunately that does not seem to be the case.

Last week, Biden attended a conference in Boise, Idaho, about the ongoing wildfires that have plagued several states in the country’s west. When the US leader went off-script and began babbling with one of the attendees, the White House staffers went into panic mode and abruptly cut the feed.

Earlier, Politico reported https://www.politico.com/newsletters/we ... els-494228 that Biden aides are
filled with anxiety that he’s going to take questions from the press and veer off the West Wing’s carefully orchestrated messaging.
It's times like this when a person can get thinking about ‘nuclear briefcases’, and ‘unintended consequences’, and other such things that modern nightmares are made of.

In any case, to employ the overused Trump measuring stick once again, try and imagine what would happen to the White House aide that dared to silence the former president as he attempted to answer questions from the press pool. There would have been a resounding
You’re fired,
and that would have been the end of it.

The Idaho meeting, however, was not an isolated case of Biden being hushed up.

This week, he hosted British Prime Minister Boris Johnson at the White House, where once again the US president’s aides bound and gagged the dear leader – figuratively speaking, of course. Just after Johnson politely took three questions from British reporters, Biden’s staffers shouted over the assembled journalists like a fire alarm had just gone off, ordering them out of the room as Biden looked on with bewilderment in his eyes, muttering something inaudible. As the reporters were seen leaving, one could be heard asking,
What did [President Biden] say?
to which another responded,
I have no idea. I hope the microphone got it.

In response to the latest snubbing, which is becoming dangerously conspicuous, the White House press pool filed a formal complaint against Biden for
refusing to answer questions from American media about the multiple crises that have erupted under his regime,
as the Daily Wire not-so-delicately put it. https://www.dailywire.com/news/white-ho ... -questions

This is a rather remarkable turn of events in that the diehard liberal media, which has had Biden’s back through thick and thin – even playing cover during his prodigal son Hunter’s laptop scandal, which they dutifully proclaimed as fake news (turns out it was true; https://www.foxnews.com/media/politico- ... cism-media go figure) – is showing signs of weariness. After all, even the most obedient dog will stray from an incompetent owner, especially if it is not being fed the essential soundbites now and then. This presents the Biden administration with a grave problem, and one they are certainly awake to.

First, not only are Americans coming around to the conclusion that Biden is not altogether upstairs, but his interrupted performances are also helping to propel the Democratic Party’s ultimate nemesis, Donald J. Trump, to the front of the polls once again. And let’s face it, Joe Biden is not getting any younger.

In November, America’s leader will be celebrating his 79th birthday, which means when the next presidential election rolls around he’ll be a ripe 82.

I have no idea what the Las Vegas bookies are predicting, but the opinion here is that America’s
most popular president of all time
will be lucky to make it through the summer of next year as far as his political shelf life goes.

It will be very hard to keep the charade going much longer beyond then. But this will not improve the situation for the Democratic Party, since Kamala Harris, Biden’s cackling vice president, is herself stuck in the basement of the polling agencies.

So unless something unexpected happens, it already looks like smooth sailing for Trump in 2024. Don't cry, Democrats: worse things have happened before in the circus known as American politics, even if you can't think of them right now.

Financial Disclosures Reveal Jen Psaki was Employed by an Israeli Spying Firm

BY BLUEAPPLES

https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2021-09- ... s-employed

FRIDAY, SEP 24, 2021

In July, the exposure https://www.zerohedge.com/political/peg ... each-being of the Israel-based NSO Group's Pegasus spyware shined new light on the scope of the Israeli government's vast spying network. The State of Israel itself licensed the sale of the spyware to foreign governments, private enterprises, and criminal organizations alike. This licensing enabled the impact of Pegasus covert surveillance to target journalists, foreign governments, and elected officials. To put its impact into perspective, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was revealed to have used Pegasus to spy on Jamal Kashoggi preceding his execution in Turkey, Mexican drug cartels employed it to target journalists exposing their crimes, and its use by the Moroccan government led to the revelation that they successfully targeted https://www.zerohedge.com/political/peg ... each-being French President Emmanual Macron by tapping into a cellphone he has used since 2017. In total, leaks exposing the extent of Pegasus use disclosed that over 600 government officials from 30 different countries were targets of the Israeli-backed spyware. This revelation shined new light on the scope of the state of Israel's spy network, in particular its operations against political allies but did far from a painting a complete picture on those operations.

In the wake of the Pegasus revelation, the extent of the network of private company involved in Israeli spying operations has recently been extended into the Biden Administration itself. Financial disclosures included in response to a financial disclosure request https://www.whitehouse.gov/disclosures/ ... sclosures/ made to the White House by Chicago-based media outlet The Electronic Intifada show that NSO Group is far from the only Israeli-backed spyware company with connections to foreign governments. A Public Financial Disclosure Report contained in the documents unearthed by the media outlet uncovered a record of White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki's previous employment with another suspect Israeli spying enterprise, AnyVision Interactive Technologies. The Israeli company produces multitudes of spyware technology, including biometric facial recognition software which can be easily installed in surveillance cameras that weren't even previously designed to deploy the program.

According to the financial disclosure, Psaki was employed by AnyVision as a
crisis communications consultant
following her departure from the White House from her position as communications director which she began in 2015 that concluded at the end of the Obama Administration in January of 2017.

Shortly thereafter, Psaki began working at CNN as a political commentator in February of 2017 among other consulting positions including her work with AnyVision included in the aforementioned Public Financial Disclosure Report. Quite ironically, Psaki's work with AnyVision chronicled in the report follows another consulting role she held with the Center for Humane Technology.

Although the report offers no definitive time frame to clarify the duration of Psaki's consultancy, the context of her role does offer some degree of insight. In 2019, AnyVision came under scrutiny when it was revealed that the company was supplying the Israeli military with its facial recognition software for deployment as part of an alleged mass surveillance in the West Bank to monitor Palestinian residents. This strategy is comparable to what human rights groups alleged that the Chinese government uses facial recognition software to target Uyghur ethnic minorities with the aid of technology made by heavily-sanctioned telecommunications company Huawei. This controversy also revealed AnyVision's close ties to the Israeli government, particularly its military and intelligence sectors. The company's president, Amir Kain, formerly headed the security department of the Israel Ministry of Defense and the company's advisory board was headed by Tamir Pardo, who served as the 11th Director of the Mossad from January 1, 2011 - January 5, 2016 under then-Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The fallout from the revelations connecting AnyVision to pivotal figures who once headed the Israeli intelligence and defense apparatus created a public relations nightmare for the company. In response to the outcry made by human rights groups against AnyVision, the company attempted to put a positive spin on its conduct by declaring that it only sells its facial recognition software to democratic nations with established human rights records. AnyVision also disclosed its company's formal policy not to do business with the Chinese or Russians, as well as forbidding the sale of its software to African governments. This public relations tactic of vilifying the Russian government to absolve any wrong doing has certainly been deployed by Psaki in her role as White House Press Secretary, though it is unclear if her consultancy work was utilized by AnyVision in this particular instance.

Despite the best efforts of whatever crisis communications consultants who were behind crafting that response, they weren't enough to prevent huge divestment from AnyVision. Microsoft had invested in the company through its venture capital division M12 in 2019. Yet, by 2020, Microsoft divested itself entirely from the Israeli spyware company. The impetus of this deicion followed an audit of the AnyVision conducted by another former Obama Administration official, former Attorney General Eric Holder. Holder's law firm Covington & Burling conducted the audit, concluding that AnyVision's spyware programs were a crucial component of the surveillance technology used at border crossing checkpoints between Palestinians and Israeli territories. Though the Holder-led firm's audit dismissed any use of the technology in any larger-scale mass surveillance programs, its ties to the Mossad make it difficult to gauge the viability of that finding.

Though the tenure of Psaki's consulting work with AnyVision was limited to a short duration based on the small sum of $5,000 in compensation that she received, this financial disclosure highlights the tremendous influence of the Israeli government's spying network. That influence has permeated into governments across the world, mass media corporations, and multinational technology companies through investment and employment of individuals who have served as advisors to companies enveloped in its network. As the revelations regarding NSO Group and AnyVision Interactive Technologies show, the scale of this influence is far from being completely uncovered. As far as Psaki's involvement is concerned, perhaps her work with AnyVision was what got her tapped for the role of White House Press Secretary to begin with. After all, dealing with the calamity of Biden's term in office thus far has required a masterclass in crisis communications.

An honor and a privilege to have met with South Sudan's Vice-President, H.E. Rebecca Nyandeng de Mabior. She spoke highly of Eritrea's President Isaias Afwerki, the close relations & unwavering friendship between the two peoples & called on both states 2 strengthen collaboration @UN.

Ethiopia is to close its embassy in Ireland next month with its responsibilities transferring to the sub-Saharan’s country’s mission in London.

The closure is one of more than 30 across the globe along with a number of consulates as the country of 90 million faces major economic difficulties compounded by the Covid-19 pandemic and the ongoing conflict in the northern state of Tigray, which has now become one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises.

Embassy staff in the affected missions have been recalled to the capital Addis Ababa. A number of diplomats who are from the Tigray region have refused to return, citing fear of arrest and stating that colleagues who did go back have been jailed. Some diplomats have sought asylum in their host countries.

Tigrayans living in Ireland have held demonstrations outside Leinster House each week since the Dáil’s return to highlight the growing humanitarian crisis in the region.

Almost 2 million people have been displaced and more than five million need emergency food aid as famine begins to take hold.

This week the Tigray demonstration outside the Dáil was matched by a counter protest at the same time of supporters of the federal government of prime minister Abiy Ahmed.

Civil war erupted in November last year after Mr Ahmed’s government launched air strikes and a ground offensive, accusing former comrades and the local ruling party, the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF), of armed revolt.

The conflict has intensified fears of a break-up of the country.

Priority
The Government regrets the decision of the Ethiopian authorities to close their Embassy in Ireland,
the Department of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
The ongoing conflict in Tigray is of significant concern, and Ireland has been to the fore in raising the crisis at the UN Security Council, within the European Union, and with other partners.

We have also conveyed our concerns directly to the Ethiopian authorities. In all cases, we have stressed the need for unimpeded humanitarian access, a ceasefire, and the need for dialogue leading to a political resolution of the conflict.
The Ethiopian government has criticised what it called international “interference” in its internal affairs and Ireland in particular for its efforts in raising the issue at the Security Council.

Minister for Foreign Affairs Simon Coveney https://www.irishtimes.com/topics/topic ... on+Coveney was to visit Ethiopia as part of a visit to the Horn of Africa in July but it was cut from the itinerary.

The department said that
Ethiopia remains one of Ireland’s most important partners in Africa, and home to our largest bilateral development cooperation programme, €32 million in 2020.

Ireland’s continued priority will remain supporting the needs of the most vulnerable people in Ethiopia, including those affected by conflict in Tigray and neighbouring regions.

Due to the conflict, we have reallocated funding to respond to the evolving humanitarian crisis. Through the Irish Aid programme, we have so far provided over €3.2 million to support the humanitarian response in Tigray and the refugee response in neighbouring Sudan, through our trusted UN and NGO partners on the ground.
In July, the Government announced additional humanitarian funding of €2.75 million for Ethiopia, to address hunger and insecurity throughout the country, including in Tigray.
