The appointment of this General to the head of Amhara Liyu Hayel is a game changer. Here is a short bio of him.

1-He is Amhara from Wollo (lasta)...meaning no childish game for supremacy between (gonder & gojjam). They both listen and respect him

2- He knows agames inside out. He fought with them as EPDM and his position before he was sacked was as equal as Seare Melon en.

3- He spent over 10 years in jail due to the failed coup de etat against Meles.

4- After his release in 2018, he trained 3 rounds of Amhara special force numbered 10 thousand. Highly effective force that kicked agames in November.

5- He & General Asaminew were ordered to halt training amhara special forces by amhara state officials after this put Tigray & Oromuma forces in a fear and alert mode. So he barely trained 3 rounds (10k) while oromia trained 33 rounds and agames trained over 200k.

6- he went to jail again in 2019 for over a year due to suspicions that he took part in the coup with General Asaminew. He was cleared from that charge and After he was released, he called the amhara state leadership "enkuto" which literally means idiots and lived a civilians life.

With public pressure and seeing tplf's push, he is now reinstated as the head of the special forces. He can effectively change the FANO to a powerful fighting machine.

Deqi is correct in his assessement. as to your argument, ethnic federalism/politics doesn't exist in Eritrea as a constitution or institution. hence no need for hamassien to organize by itself. the same for the rest.

I can guarantee you this. As soon as, Amharas give some type of narrow mentalities over nationalism, Ethiopia disintegrates. Eritrea is far more in danger than Ethiopia is. Eritrea's distiny is the hand of one man who can even dispose of it at sovereignty at will. Ethiopians, at least you have a facade of democratic rule. None amhara Ethnic groups worried about Amhara elites intentions. That will disappear in the long run. The previous generation of Amhara is totally different from today as the previous generations of Ethiopia are different today. Tomorrow will bring something different. Be patient.

Like many narrow minded people, You don't even understand the differences between nation and region. Amhara is a nation while Gojam,Gonder,wollo or Shoaa are regions in amhara.
