Where did Oromo originally come from?

Post by Yakume » 16 Jul 2020, 16:07

Academically, we don’t know a whole lot for sure about the Oromo people because what we do know about them historically mostly comes from Ethiopian and neighboring literate states that were not necessarily friendly to the Oromo. The Oromo probably came from what is now northern Kenya into what is now the southern highland area of Ethiopia, and finally into the Western Highlands in what may have been a vacuum left by the Abyssinian-Somali war between 12th and 16th centuries.

According to "The Joshua Project", the Harerge Oromo are the descendants of the Barentu confederacy that moved toward the east of the Ganale River during the Oromo migration of the 16th century. They consist of the Ittu, Ania, Ala, Nole, Jarso and Babile tribes. They were able to occupy the land of the Harar uplands where they came in contact with the Somali and the Harar city-state. They became sedentary agriculturalists. Some of their tribes like the Nole and the Babile live mixed together with the Somali.

The earliest known documented and detailed history of the Oromo people was by the Abyssinian monk Abba Bahrey who wrote Zenahu le Galla in 1593, though the synonymous term Gallas was mentioned in maps or elsewhere much earlier. After the 16th century, they are mentioned more often, such as in the records left by Abba Pawlos, Joao Bermudes, Jerorimo Lobo, Galawdewos, Sarsa Dengel and others. These records suggest that the Oromo were pastoral people in their history, who stayed together. Their animal herds began to expand rapidly and they needed more grazing lands. They began migrating, not together, but after separating. They lacked kings, and had elected leaders called luba based on a Gada system of government instead. By the late 16th century, two major Oromo confederations emerged: Afre and Sadaqa, which respectively refer to four and three in their language, with Afre emerging from four older clans, and Sadaqa out of three. These Oromo confederations were originally located in south-central Ethiopia, specifically the northwest of the Borena region near Lake Abaya, but started moving north in the 16th century in what is termed as the "Great Oromo Migration".

According to Marianne Bechhaus-Gerst, the migration was one of the consequences of fierce wars of attrition between Christian and Muslim armies in the Horn of Africa region in the 15th and 16th century and depopulated the regions near the Galla lands, but also probably a result of droughts in their traditional homelands. Further, they acquired horses and their Gada system helped coordinate well equipped Oromo warriors who enabled fellow Oromos to advance and settle into newer regions starting in the 1520s. This expansion continued through the 17th century.

Recentlty, the Oromo extremists like Jawar Mohammed and OLFits and junior pastors like Lemma Megersa and others are also working hard expansion of Oromo land to the neighbouring regions. Sice 2015, the new map of Oromiya distributed by Jawar Mohammed and OPDO annexes lands of others to Oromiya region

According to Jawar and Lemma, at least 8 to 10 weredas of North Shewa Zone of Amhara region are included to Oromiya region map. The same is planned in parts of Afar, Gambella, Gambella, Somali, SNNP (Sidama and other zones) and Tigray (Raya) and will be annexed to Oromiya

Only on the basis of your pink wet red ar$$$ baboon Chimp fake news and hate mongering Judas dirt cheap propaganda ranting.

Otherwise Oromos have been and are still democratic and humanist community of people who free all the peoples from jails and concentration camps and let them go and fly freely like the birds in the sky. That exactly is what you hateful master lair Judas serpents hate the most because you are the popes and bishops tyranny and dictatorship, just the exact opposite of the great Oromo humanist democratic systems and beliefs. Eat your toes and your heart if that may free you from your hateful life and fake livings! Okay? Okay!

Here is another narrative from Amhara elites about origin of Oromo, the only reason settled here is because the north stopped the migration and you chose to live with everyone here;now who is the settler again?!

It is time to tell gallas to go where they belong. Gallas are settlers.

“The Oromo Migration” happened on the 15th century from southern kenya to the north, Ethiopia was there 1000 year before that;the only reason you settled here is because the north stopped the migration and you chose to live with everyone here;now who is the fucken settler again?!

The onus is on the oromos to prove otherwise.the Amhara historians did not make up or invented the Galla invasion.even the Europeans were not in full blown colonization in the 15th century but the gallas claim being a colony of Amhara. the fact is settlers or invaders make a lot of noise about ownership of land more than the original inhabitants.that is why the oromos are busy to rewrite history disregarding all others who owned the land before them.
