Isaias is kingmaker in Ethiopia. Abiy is PM today as a direct result of Isaias's aid. Whoever wants to be PM must . . .

I's no brainer

Abiy made getting Isaias's support on Ethiopian internal affairs Halal. It will not be Haram for Fano to get support from Isaias! You cannot make one thing Halal for you and Haram for others.

Isayes lives in fantasy world. The Eritrea liberation movement has a long history. As the ancient liberation movement in the region, it had influenced movements which mushroomed in Ethiopia against the Ethiopian regime. Isayes was the so called king maker. He seemed to have missed that “glory.”
But the Ethiopia of today is way different than the Ethiopia of thirty five or so years ago. The Ethiopia of today does not have a room to accommodate Isayes’ exclusive interest.
He can make friendly good relationship with Ethiopia. But he cannot have the chance to interfere with the internal politics of Ethiopia.
Hi Sam,

Have you been on coma over the past 4 years? You and I may not like it, but Isaias is still king maker in Ethiopia. Abiy is Ethiopia's PM today (some call him King, actually he probably thinks he is King) as a direct result of Isaias's interference in Ethiopian politics. If Isaias did not help him, Abiy would not be in 4 Killo tonight. He would probably be an exilee somewhere in Dubai or Jeddah. "ከኤርትራ ባንታረቅ ኖሮ ዛሬ እዚህ አን ኖርም ነበር" ነበር አቢይ ያለው ለፓርላማው? Check out my old thread "ኢትዮጵያ እጆችዋን ወደ ኤርትራ ትዘረጋለች"

Abiy has made Isaias's interference in Ethiopia's internal affairs halal when he created ጥምር ጦር with Isaias against Tigray. It would not be haram if Fano gets Isaias's support in removing Abiy. You might say me, "When it comes to removing your cousin's from getting to Arat Killo, everything is halal." Well, Fano could also say to you, "When it comes to removing your cousin from Arat Killo, everything is halal." You cannot make one thing halal for you and haram for others.

Your ESAT friends used to get millions of dollars from Egypt via Isaias. You were a cheer leader then. you cannot make ESAN TV getting support from Isaias haram now.

Obboletti Eden,

I partially agree. Fano can certainly justify an alliance with Eritrea (BTW who's to say they haven't gotten at least some help from Eritrea), using the same reasoning the other "rebel groups" such as g7, OLA, and others used.

However, Eritrea is far from being rich enough to truly help, but it can perhaps funnel funds, arms, etc from a 3rd party to those rebels, (such as Egypt, Turkey, etc). Which would result in fano being used as a tool against Ethiopia, a contradictory position for a group that some say is pan Ethiopian and "Ethiopias true hope."

Also, even if Eritrea did not get involved, tplf would not have been able to rule as it did before. Why? Because it has no allies. No more subordinate satellite eprdf parties. It only ruled so long because of the eprdf parties, the opdo especially, and the andm, who didn't use their influence and power to put the tplf in it's place. Tplf couldn't even come to addis back then without creating the eprdf and having shabia back it.
Not to mention that, Eritrea or pia, got involved for it's own interests, not to "save abiy," or etc.

Sadacha,

Back in 1991, by the time TPLF got to Addis, Ethiopia was about to fall into anarchy. Isayas did anything and everything to keep Ethiopia intact. As a matter of fact, TPLLF was about to declare Tigray’s independence back in 1993. Isayas persuaded them not to do so. That was good for Eritrea. He deserves credit on that one. Isayas always cared about Ethiopia. His justification has always been that anarchism in Ethiopia was dangerous for Eritrea’s survival. Some say, Eritrea was too small for him. They say, he had aspirations to rule Ethiopia. His great grand father was none other than dejajmach Hagos who was the brother of king Yohaness the 4th. BTW, Deja.j Hagos was the one who killed Alula AbaNega in a power competition , to replace the demised of king Yohanness the fourth. Why am I telling you this story, well, Isayas helped save Ethiopia from disintegration by helping Abbiy to stay in power, How many Eritrean mothers lost their kids so that your Abbiy can stay in power and Ethiopia in one peace. Our problem, Isayas loves Ethiopia too much. Abbiy definitely knows that too.

Eritrea has a fraction of Ethiopian budget. Many regions in Ethiopia have bigger populations and budgets than entire Eritrea. But that did not stop Isaias from deciding who rules Ethiopia.

Obboletti Eden,

If he could've overthrown and installed whom he wishes, the tplf who openly called for the destruction of Eritrea, wouldn't have ruled for so long.
The current opdo regime wasn't put into power by pia. He simply got involved when war broke out for his own interests.

Dark Energy,
The tplf only considered independence when they didn't think they could rule Ethiopia, but with the derg collapsing, and the formation of the eprdf which allowed them to have influence outside of tigray, the idea of independence was forgotten.
Pia supports Ethiopia unity if it means he can use its resources to benefit Eritrea like it did from 91 to 98 (refer to the article: ethio-Eritrea common market).
I do not think he genuinely "loves" an Ethiopia that he cannot benefit from or influence in one way or another.
Hence why you see it now working with the enemies of Ethiopia or those who wish to encircle it and weaken it.

Is Erdogan the new kingmaker in Syria?

Turkey's Erdogan backs rebel offensive in Syria

Published date: 6 December 2024 13:45 GMT | Last update: 1 day 23 hours ago

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan appeared to back a rebel offensive in Syria that has captured several major cities within a week, as indicated by a statement he made on Friday.

“Idlib, Hama, Homs, and of course, the ultimate target is Damascus. The opposition's march continues,” he said. “Our hope is that this march in Syria proceeds without any accidents or troubles.”

Erdogan reminded that he had invited Syrian President Bashar al-Assad multiple times this year for talks to “determine Syria’s future together”, but Assad did not respond positively to such a meeting.

Although Turkey did not directly intervene in the latest offensive by the rebels - which saw the rapid fall of Aleppo, Syria’s second-largest city, and Hama - it appears to have given the operation a green light.

Turkish security sources told Middle East Eye last week that Ankara had approved a limited operation in the Aleppo countryside.

However, the unexpected collapse of Syrian government forces has expanded the operation into uncharted territory.

Some elements of the Turkey-backed Syrian National Army (SNA) joined the initial Aleppo offensive led by Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), a former al-Qaeda affiliate. As Aleppo fell to the rebels, the SNA also opened another front from the north, seizing territories near Tal Rifaat and the strategically important Kuweires military airport.

Sadacha deceiver,

Was there OLA during Tplf rule? All is OLF. You put OLF leaders in Ethiopia to put attention away from public by saying Shene, Ola, etc pig is pig no matter you put lipstick on it. Funny, you are today concerned Fano being tool for Arabs, really weren’t you not only tool for Shabia (Olf in Eritrea) and tool for Egypt that allowed you to control Ethiopia today from Tplf?

Isayas loves Ethiopia so much , it invited Egypt to occupy Eritrea. What does that make Isayas? Both the enemy of Eritrea and Ethiopia.

Turkey gets the best of both world, East and West. It is a dangerous leader and state that is training millions of Tertorists. It will restore the Ottoman Empire with help of West after destroying regional competition which is Iran then will move to Russia and China destroying these countries with West

EthioUnity,

Isayas kept telling Eritreans that Egypt was our enemy. Egypt supported ELF from the beggining of the struggle not Isayas led EPLF. Now, he can not refuse to invite Egypt to Assab when Eritrean sovereignty is threatened by the little twerp known as Abbiy. I don’t trust Isayas at all. But, Egypt’s Air Force in Eritrea is the best thing that happened to Eritrea lately. Put it this way, Isayas has no choice but to invite Egypt to Eritrea. Finger crossed, no telling what the old man is up to !
