Not true. It is well documented by Italians and Ethiopians that the Askari Eritreans were a proud servant of the fascist colonizers. Also, there was no Italian resistance in Eritrea and Tigray. Gojam and Northern Shewa lead the resistance in high percentage, followed by Gonder. Tigray has zero resistance.
