The world likes Ethiopian food: የኢትዮጵያ ምግብ እንደ ጉድ ተበላ.... my problem is about injera having high...

They lied us about the glycemic index of Teff(in reality which is not different from wheat) and so many people are diabetic probably because Teff. other than that our food is unique need to be appreciated. But the world really really needs on solution regarding Blood sugar problem.

don't be stup!d, try it if you have diabetic monitors whether it is glucometer stripes or continuous glucoms meter (CGM). after you eat only 120g teff's made injera or anything else, the blood glucose lever rise very high at least for 2 hour. If you are prediabetic, you are done, teff will made for you. All of Ethiopians are who are diabetic or prediabetic complaining about this.

Whole grains and fiber..Teff

The body does not absorb all the carbs from whole grains. And those that it does absorb enter the bloodstream more slowly than processed carbs. For this reason, carbs from whole grains are less likely to cause blood sugar levels to spike. They lead to the person feeling fuller for longer.

Whole grains contain fiber. Although fiber is technically a carbohydrate, it does not break down into glucose in the body and does not add calories. Fiber is a healthy carb.


unless someone already has type 2 diabetes (lack of insulin or insulin resistance) TEFF is not known for causing diabetes.
insulin converts carbohydrate into glucose ( energy).

for your information:
Teff powder has very high nutritional value. Just 100 grams of Teff powder provides: Calories: 366 calories Protein: 12.2 grams Fat: 3.7 grams Carbs: 70.7 grams Fiber: 12.2 grams Iron: 37% of daily requirement . Calcium: 11% of daily requirement.

and wheat has :
The total carbohydrate content of 100g of wheat is 71g. It has 14g of protein with 3% of the recommended daily dose of calcium, 19% of iron, 20% of vitamin B-6, and 36% of magnesium.
almost they are the same except on the content of fibers.

if you have glucometer eat for example 200g teff products like injera and others and test it just about 30 minutes later, probably it will spike above 200mg/dl. the normanl range is below 140mg/dl. but most people feel normal because after 2 hours the insulin in the body able to deal with the glucose content in the teff and it will come to the normal level. but with time there is a chance to be insulin resistance and to be prediabetic and finally leading to diabetic.

Wrong,
lack of insulin can be categorized in type 1 diabetes in which a pancreas failed to produce insulin naturally but in the case of type 2 diabetes, a person can produce insulin but with time the body is unable to use the insulin and the body become insulin resistance and as a result the glucose level will rise in the blood.

Whatever it is the main problem of diabetes is carbohydrate. the food that we eat if it has high amount of carb, it leads to insulin resistance with time. diabetic people in the world is rising with unprecedented rate.

Filipino trying Ethiopian food, he looked professional eater of Injera. He even don't want to let the left over, he ordered take away.
