President Isaias Afwerki today met at Denden Guest House, Mr. Ramtane Lamamra, UN SG Antonio Guterres' Envoy for Sudan. President Isaias noted that progress in the resolution of the conflict in Sudan has become elusive so far also due to z proliferation of initiatives & platforms
President Isaias expressed Eritrea's support to the UNSG Initiative as a viable mechanism for unifying all other efforts. Pre. Isaias further stated that Eritrea had submitted to Sudan's Sovereign Council in 2022, a Proposal anchored on the establishment of transitional institutions
The UNSG Envoy for Sudan, Mr. Lamamra, for his part, elaborared on measures that the UN & its institutions have embarked on to promote lasting peace in the Sudan, as well as, to provide support to the Sudanese people forced into internal displacement & exile due to the conflict.
