A $475 million light-rail system serving Ethiopia’s Addis Ababa shows how some China-funded infrastructure investments across the continent are now suffering from neglect.

Almost a decade ago, the light-rail system in Ethiopia’s bustling capital of Addis Ababa was hailed as a revolutionary solution to the city’s transportation woes. Envisioned as a project that would redefine urban transport, the system promised to sweep up to 60,000 passengers per hour along its tracks.

Today it sits as a daily reminder of the broken promises of China-funded infrastructure investments that swept Africa in recent years. Frequent breakdowns, inadequate maintenance funding and operational constraints mean barely one-third of its 41 trains are operational, ferrying 55,000 passengers a day, a fraction of initial projections.

What went wrong was that the design from the start was wrong. And once it was installed, there was no government willingness to manage it at all. This childish satan admin followed the same woyane's methods to only focus on false promises and unrealized goals to stay in power just for Today. That is why they are demolishing existing infrastructure instead of maintaining what was just built yesterday. Everything they do is either for the ribbon cutting ceremony or to raise the hope of the population just like Israel Dansa does.

When the agame were in power in Ethiopia, they started a Chinese language learning program at the Addis Ababa university, and the only 15 students enrolled in the 3-year degree program were all agame, and none of them was able to drive a train after graduating with a Bachelor's degree.

Eritreans still thinks that they are a province of Ethiopia. They are whining about the design of light rail track in Addis.

Operate a machine beyond its design loads and with out proper preventive and unscheduled maintenance and that machine shall fail. Most probably that is what is happening with the light rail way system.

I wish I understood Chinese. I would have loved to hear how Agames mangle Chinese. If the way they speak Tigrigna, presumably their mother tongue, is an indication, their Chinese would be hilarious and their Chinese teachers would be hugely entertained.

Agames thought they were going to rule Ethiopia for 100 years. That is why they were learning CHinese, Russian, Indian and other languages. The plume embassy jobs were going to be theirs. Another dream shattered. What will Desta the agame in this video do with his CHinese now, which I am sure is worse than his English!
