I fully respect the views of our brother Mehari!.
His vision is an independent Tigray and my vision is a Tigray within Ethiopia but shifting the central gravity of Ethiopia ( in terms of technology, innovation, economy, politics, intelligence,tourism, religious etc ) to Tigray( centered at Axum) between the next 20 to 30 years. It is about resurrecting the Axumite empire in a modernized way! Independent but small Tigray will be sandwiched between Sudan, Eritrea and Ethiopia which will not meet the aspirations of Tigrayans. An independant Tigray may not also be sustainable due to the rivalry among ourselves.
Tigrayans should be allowed to freely move within Ethiopia and the Horn Africa and create wealth that will be invested in Tigray to make it the center of gravity of the Horn africa. The Axumite empire survived and thrived not as a Tigrayan state but as the center of power in the Horn of Africa and the Middle East. However, with the rise of the Persian power in the Middle East and after loosing its trade routes due to the expansion of Islam , the Axumite empire collapsed and died. Similarly a small Tigray will not be able to meet the aspiration of Tigrayans and it will not be successful. If Tigray is going to be independent all the investment and blood sacrifice we made on Ethiopia for generations will also be wasted. As a conclusion, the people of Tigray should vote as per the constitution either to be independent or to be with Ethiopia and Axumezana shall respect their decision.
