Egypt Air to start direct flights Between Mogadishu and Cairo
Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Director General of the Somali Civil Aviation Authority of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mr. Ahmed Moalim Hassan received a delegation from Cairo and Egypt Air in Mogadishu.
The delegation’s arrival and the purpose of these meeting is the start of the plan to prepare Egypt Air flights to start from Mogadishu to Cairo directly.
“We have started evaluating the possibility of Egypt Air to start a direct flight from Mogadishu, which will be Mogadishu to Cairo,” said the Director General, Ahmed Macallin.
The delegation also inspected the Somali Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA) offices and the Adan Adde International Airport (AIAA).
“Exciting news for Somalia’s progress global connectivity Somalia and Egypt’s aviation authorities met in Mogadishu to pave the way for Egypt Air to launch international flights linking Cairo and Mogadishu. A significant step towards enhanced trade and travel opportunities,” Minister of Information said.

Many Somalis travelling from the West to Somalia have lately been using Turkish Airlines, rather than Kenyan Airways or Ethiopian Airlines. The remaining that have still been using Ethiopian Airlines, will, for sure, ditch it for Egypt Air.
