Eritrean military officer's last meeting

Post by Mesob » 20 Nov 2023, 01:15

On Saturday, Eritrean army officers, Lieutenant Colonels and above were recalled for an emergency meeting in Asmara. The meeting assessed the current situation between Eritrea and Ethiopia, highlighting the security situation and the preparation for war on the Ethiopian side.
It was a meeting with no questions allowed. It was a very tense day because the Eritrean officers know that the Eritrean high ranking brass had done nothing to inform and update them earlier. On the Eritrean side, the preparation level to defend, let alone to counter attack is zero.
Army intelligence sharing was none existent, because the army brass believed that Abiy will never dare to attack. Simply, they believed that Abiy Ahmed was bluffing.
In the meeting, the Eritrean officers were told, the attacking army is brand new and fresh from the training camps of Oromia and southern Ethiopia with no combat experience; badly motivated and morally down from its long and devastating wars in the Amhara region.
The other lies they gave them was that Eritrea has obtained anti drone rockets and more sophisticated surface to air missiles that can shoot any aircraft from far away, from Saudi Arabia and Egyptian governments. They also told them that wedi Afom had been working very hard in Saudi Arabia and he was able to garner much needed diplomatic support for Eritrea in Africa and from the Arab world. The major lie that they told to the officers was, Saudi Arabia and the Egyptians are already shipping lots of sophisticated drones and their pilots. That the Arabs are on our side and they will provide us enough cash to fight as long as necessary.
From the meeting, one can conclude the Eritrean ministry of defense is in shock and completely caught by surprise. Many believe this meeting is going to be their last together. Many of them will not meet or see each other again.
