Abyssinia has been land-locked since at least 1509 A.D. A little lesson of history to ABIY

Post by sesame » 16 Nov 2023, 21:53

Here is an excerpt from a
Letter from Helena (Elleeni), the grandmother of David [Daawit II], the Precious John, the Emperor of Ethiopia, to Emanuel [Manuel I], king of Portugal, etc. written in AD 1509

Finally, we express our wish that the salvation and grace of our Savior Jesus Christ and our Holy Lady, the Virgin Mary, extends to you as well as to (your) sons and daughters and your whole house. Amen.

In addition, we inform you that if we wish to wage wars and lead armies together, we will have enough armed forces to destroy (with God’s help) all the enemies of our holy faith. However, our empires and dominions are landlocked so that we have no access to the sea. We are not a naval power, whereas you of all have (praise be to God) the strongest power at sea. Jesus Christ may help you. The deeds you accomplished in India are truly admirable rather than customary. If you want to arm 1000 ships, we will provide in abundance the provisions and everything else that is needed for this fleet.

I hope my Eritrean brothers don't fall into Abiy Ahmed's trap . Abiy is a bad leader and Ethiopians are opposing his policies. He is trying to ignite Ethiopian national sentiment by using the sea access problem. One huge mistake Eritreans need to avoid is this. Ethiopians hate for Abiy doesn't means that they like to see a weak Ethiopia. So, attacking the Ethiopian nation will not serve your purpose; don't push the people to side with Abiy Ahmed.

With all due respect, nationalism that is ignited by the desire to acquire other people's property is an illness that Ethiopians need to recover from. And the best way to get rid of the illness is by debunking and destroying the mythologies that you have been fed. For example, many Ethiopians are heard saying that Assab is a natural port of Ethiopia. Yet the only time Ethiopians used Assab is when Eritrea was federated with Ethiopia in 1952. The myth about Assab being a natural port developed after 1952. There is no historical basis for it because Assab was not a port before the Italians turned it into one. Today, Agames are heard claiming (and will even die for it) that Welkait is Western Tigray when in fact it was only after 1991 that Tigrayans settled there. The best way to deal with mythologies is education. And the fact that in 1509 the Queen of Absyssina admitted that her empire was land-locked is a fact that Abiy and all Ethiopians need to know just as the fact that Atse Yohannes wrote a letter to Queen Victoria in which he admits that Welkait is not part of Tigray is a fact that Tigrayans need to know.

Now consider the following: The Nile is a vital source of life for Egyptians, a million times more vital than the Red Sea is for Ethiopians? So how would Abiy feel if Egyptians, with the support of the rich Arab countries, were to claim that Lake Tana belongs to Egypt?

Horus,
You gave my Eritrean brothers and sisters the best advice but it is unlikely the emotionally driven and the intellectually devoid Isaias supporters would get it. Instead of seeking friends and allies among the Ethiopians who are against Abiy Ahmed, the idiots tend to insult the entire Ethiopia, the Ethiopian people and our shared common history and values. For this, Abiy Ahmed will thank God because his enemies are fools.
These idiots do not get it, in 1509 my own Bahre Negasi ancestors were also locked out of the sea because the Othoman Turks were occupying Massawa.
I challenge the historically challenged idiots to show me a document, for that matter any Portuguese document that shows, Massawa was under the control of Bahre Negash in 1509 who was based in Dubarwa.

echoing on what brother Horus said here,

skunnis,

We know your honeymoon with Oromuma abiy Ahmed is over. But unfortunately, you are dumb to associate Oromuma ideology to our country Ethiopia. When you attack our country and trashing our country name, you are including us in this equation. You are very low IQ to believe the ConArtist to begin with and even now when all of a sudden when he switched topics to ports. We kept telling you that it is his diversion technic but you are low IQ to understand his puzzles.

Stop attacking our country or else, we will have to respond. When you try to tarnish Ethiopia, you are attacking 86 ethnicities and they will all be unhappy with your erratic behavior. Be smart. listen to us for a guide if you are dumb enough to fall for the conartist

Horus,
I seconded your recommendation 1000%. This history that history..... etc. has no usefulness here. The point is how can East Africa in general be a livable region, how can stable governments triumph, and people benefit has to be the focus. Right now the East Africa region is like a "bucket" or softly is water point for all beasts to devour the region. We for sure know, Aby Ahmed is one Trojan horse.

Africa 1890.

Ethiopia is full of people with mental retardation who are detached from reality, Abyssinia has been landlocked since time immemorial, Abyssinia was made up of different ethnic groups, Those were Agew, Amharas, Tigrayans and Tigrinyas.

The expansionist poverty-ridden will remain landlocked till the world comes to an end, I'm afraid.

BTW, if you look at the map below, you'll notice how Abyssinia was small in the past and that it has become bigger through immoral expansionism facilitated and granted by the greed-driven British empire.

The irony of all this is Oromo abiys from beshasha claiming axumite empire heritage and Issu ?
I agree with the recommendation that both peace seeking brotherly people to look pass abyss who is bombarding his own people with drones to preserve his regime.
Majority of Eritrean want Ethiopia to use their ports at a discounted rate (electricity power for port services exchange) or freer than what Ethiopia is paying in djibooty. So there’s no reason for a conflict, other than abyss wanting to divert attention of the people.
For peace’s sake of both countries, Eritrea needs to get armed with what Ethiopia has since any sign of weakness will invite aggression from erratic telalaki leaders like abiys
