Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki lauded China's development trajectory as an "inspiring" model for African countries and said that solidarity between the two continents should be built on both economic cooperation and cultural exchange.
At the invitation of President Xi Jinping, Afwerki arrived in China on May 14 for a state visit, during which the two heads of state held talks at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. The visit came ahead of the anniversary of three decades of diplomatic relations between the two countries, which fell on May 24. In an interview during the state visit, Afwerki hailed China's achievements as it pursued modernized development.
