Orthodox vs Orthodox

Post by banebris2013 » 07 Feb 2023, 10:57

A coin has two sides, if you focus only on one side or on the side you only want to see, your view will only be based the side you see. The current issue around orthodox church is also just like looking at one side of the coin. What is overpopulating the media, specially the so called Amhara affiliated medias is political orthodox, not religious in any measures.
Those who formed separate senodos have never said they are not orthodox. All they want is to reach their followers in their mothers tongue, including Amharic. It was not that long a go that using non Amharic/Geeze language to preach orthodox was considered a sin. Thanks to derg, that was not the case anymore. Even during early days of wayane, the orthodox clergies tried to claim "Qubee is evil" and needs to be abolished.
So what is wrong if Sidama or Waliata as a people wants their own orthodox senodos in their own language? unless Amharic speaking orthodox senodos is the only one that is accepted by God, just like in the old days.
Which ever side it is, the current orthodox church issue is about political orthodox, not religious orthodox. A senodos that claims monopoly is political orthodox, has very little to do with the actual orthodox religion . So all the noise around this is about missing the opportunity of land grabbing in oromia, sidama, walaita etc. in the name of orthodox. That is what all this noise is about. Other wise orthodox religion will remain the main religion for most Christians in Ethiopia, no matter what.

Nothing is wrong to have services in own languages. The thing is there can never be different synods in the same church. You can have different congregation but not different synods. Blaming this blaming that can only aggrivate the situation. Why split is chosen is the good question.
