  • Leader of the ruling party in Poland: Germany wants to dominate Europe

The head of Poland's ruling conservative nationalist party, Jaroslav Kaczynski, denounced, on Saturday, Germany's "dominance" over Europe, accusing Berlin of seeking the peaceful implementation of "schemes that were previously intended to be implemented by military means."

Kaczynski, who is considered the strong man and the main theorist of the right-wing strategy in power and who often directs criticism of Germany and the European Union, delivered a speech in the city of Legnica in the southwest of the country, as part of his preparatory tour for the legislative elections scheduled for the fall of 2023.

He was quoted by the Polish News Agency as saying that Europe's strength lies in the strength of its states, and to a large extent in the strength of sovereign states.

And he denounced "the situation of hegemony, a situation through which a European country, which is today the largest after Russia, seeks, through peaceful means, to implement plans that it previously wanted to implement through military means."

And he warned that “it is a path that leads to crisis and ruin.” Not only in Poland but also in Europe. And also in this country, Germany.”

In parallel with the anti-German rhetoric and doubts about the feasibility of the European Union, which the opposition believes is partially related to the election campaign, the Polish authorities launched a diplomatic campaign to demand compensation from Germany for World War II, estimated by Warsaw at one thousand three hundred billion euros(1,300,000,000,000 euros!!!).

However, Germany confirms that Poland waived reparations for the war in 1953 and confirmed this waiver on several occasions.

In this context, at the end of November, Warsaw rejected Germany's proposal to supply it with a Patriot anti-aircraft defense system, after two people were killed when a missile hit Polish territory. The Polish government suggested that Germany supply Ukraine with this equipment.
